Message from Dr. Katsuhide Nagayama, President and CEO

Katsuhide Nagayama

In today’s information-oriented society, we, as individuals and as public organizations, are obligated to share our ‘know-how’, ‘competence’, ‘capability’ and ‘skills’ beyond our own organizations and by integrating such ‘knowledge’, then a new socioeconomic value will be created. Such ‘knowledge integration’ and ‘socioeconomic value creation’ are what Value Planning International, Inc. (VPI) aims at. Our clients are both public and private sectors with at least one of the three valuable assets; ‘knowledge’, ‘capability and skill’ and ‘capital’, and have a strong will to create socioeconomic value for the international community.

It is not our high priority to gain the VPI’s profit. VPI provides the ‘platform’ for international knowledge integration that any individuals/organizations would be able to participate in and contribute to the better global society for our future.

Mission

VPI’s mission is to create a ‘new social capital’ valuable for everyone in the global society through promoting the public-private partnership (PPP) typed-projects with networking of both public and private sectors including civil societies in the market mechanism.

For instance, while economic growth of the Asian countries is continuously anticipated, risk factors are getting more diversified than before. In this sense, it involves a high risk for the private sectors to participate in the traditional private finance initiative (PFI) typed-projects. While there have been demands for infrastructural projects worth US$200billion every year in Asia today, the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) has been declining and it is therefore difficult to satisfy such huge infrastructural demands.

For this reason, it is critical for the Japanese public and private sectors to coordinate and share their social responsibilities and contribution to Asia and the global society. We now need a new framework to meet such huge demands and to create a new PPP market. As the result, it is high time for the private sectors to integrate our knowledge and engineering, capability and skills as well as capitals in formulating PPP projects, then creating PPP market. This is our mission.
